On Weekends We Sip Cocktails Before Noon: Brunch Libations & Coffee Concoctions
If you’re not an early morning riser, that’s okay, you are among the many that casually slip into their favorite brunch spot on a lazy weekend morning to sip the traditional Spicy Bloody Mary or coax into the day’s activities with a refreshing Mimosa. Tired of the same old, same old, one weekend after another? Shake things up a bit and do brunch at home. Invite some friends, fry up the bacon, and try your hand at these tantalizing morning cocktails that are sure to put some pep in your step, and make you wish brunch was an everyday affair.

1. Dirty Chai Coffee- You’re not going to find this at Starbucks my friends! Strong espresso, a shot of vanilla vodka and a splash of your favorite chai syrup. Top with scalded milk or cool it down with ice, you will never look at your latte the same. Pairs well with Buttermilk pancakes or Belgian Waffles, maple syrup and flambéed bananas.
2. Springtime Fling– No rules apply. The gin and tonic gets a wakeup call. Hendricks Gin makes an early morning appearance this weekend, partnered with a lemongrass tonic and garnished with cucumber, lime, and kiwi. Satisfying and refreshing, make one while your prepping brunch for your friends, but always remember sharing is caring. Serve it up with a spinach and salmon eggs benedict and roasted country style red potatoes.
3. Fig & Rosemary Prosecco Sparkler– Imagine sitting in a villa overlooking an Italian vineyard. This easy, breezy cocktail will help you live la dolce vita. Sliced figs with a fresh sprig of rosemary and a good quality prosecco hints at the divine. Sip it slowly with a light starter of prosciutto and melon followed by a roasted vegetable frittata. Weekends have never been this good.
4. Iced Puerto Rican- Watch out, these are dangerous! Next thing you know you will be sneaking cocktails into the office. Coconut rum, dark rum, strong coffee shaken over ice and topped with decadent coconut cream can be a dessert all by itself, or get down with your bad self. It is the weekend for god’s sake! Make it a cheat day, and satisfy your sweet tooth with Crepes Suzette. Life is too damn short not to indulge once in a while.
